Joiner and leaver

HR onboards a crew lead in AD and Microsoft 365, then offboards the person he replaces. Nothing is left without an owner.

Recorded on the real product against our demo company, Lakefront Works. The people and data are fictional.

Transcript

Holly works in HR at Lakefront Works. Starters and leavers are her job, so PowerScripts gives her exactly three scripts: create an Active Directory account, disable one, and the Microsoft 365 joiner and leaver. Nothing else, and no code to read.

Monday. Larry Doby starts on the Flats as crew lead, taking over from Jake Taylor. Holly creates his Active Directory account and picks Jake as the person to copy. Larry gets Jake's office, department, manager and groups. The password is never shown: Holly gets one Copy button. Then Microsoft 365. Holly fills in Larry's details, picks Lou Brown as his manager and Jake as the colleague to copy. One run creates the account and adds him to every Team Jake is in. Again, one Copy button for the password.

Friday. Jake retires. Holly searches once, and Jake comes back as one person: Active Directory and Microsoft 365 together. Right-click, disable. The reason is written into his account, and he moves to Disabled Users. Then Microsoft 365. Sign-in is blocked and every session is signed out. Jake was the only owner of the Night Shift group, so Lou takes it over before Jake leaves every Team. Nothing is left without an owner. And the whole week is on one audit trail: who ran what, for whom, under which HR ticket, with the full output.
