Licences and shared mailboxes

Harry assigns a licence and grants shared mailbox access without admin rights.

Recorded on the real product against our demo company, Lakefront Works. The people and data are fictional.

Transcript

Meet Harry. He works the help desk at Lakefront Works. In PowerScripts he's an operator: he can run the scripts his team has approved, and nothing else. A ticket just came in. Clark Kent and Lou Brown are starting Lakefront's new customer care team. They need mailboxes, and three new shared inboxes. First, licenses.

Harry searches the directory. It's live, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory together, and nothing is copied into PowerScripts. A right-click shows just the scripts that can act on a user. Harry picks Remove license. He adds Wesley, enters the E3 license and the ticket number, and runs it. The output streams in live. Two seats are free. Now the same flow in reverse. Harry finds Clark, picks Add license, adds Lou, and runs it. Both are licensed. Exchange Online builds their mailboxes in the background.

Next, the team's inboxes. From the Run page, Harry opens New shared mailbox, types three names, and runs it. Shared mailboxes need no license. Three shared mailboxes, created in one run. Harry searches for desk, and the new mailboxes are right there. He right-clicks Care Desk and chooses Grant shared mailbox access. He adds the billing and returns desks, picks Clark and Lou, and enters the ticket. Full Access and Send As are the defaults. One run applies all twelve grants: Full Access and Send As for both users on all three mailboxes. Anything already granted would simply be skipped, so it's safe to run again. Everything Harry did is on the audit trail: who ran what, on which accounts and mailboxes, under which ticket. And if it was a mistake, one click on Reverse runs the revoke script with the same values.
